TONIGHT · BEFORE COMPETITION
A ritual for the fear of losing.
Stoic philosophy teaches that we suffer more in imagination than in reality. This ritual asks players to face the feared outcome directly - so it loses its power before the match begins.
1
Find a quiet moment together. Away from screens, away from noise. Sit down somewhere calm.
2
Ask them to imagine losing. Not vaguely - fully. The final score, the walk off court, the car ride home.
3
Ask: what happens after? Tomorrow comes. Life goes on. The sun rises. They are still themselves.
The goal is not confidence. It is freedom. A player who has already accepted the worst outcome plays without weight.
